The location of the hotel was great, close to the station and easy to find. The meals were impressive and tasty, with a mixture of fresh dishes and meats. The private bath area was a nice addition and offered a great experience.
The beds were not comfortable, with thin mattresses and discomfort after a while. The size of the bath area was too small for groups, and the lack of options for showering was inconvenient.

Great location near train and road to Aso-san. Clean and comfortable spacious rooms. Delicious and filling meals with changing menu for multi-night stays. Friendly and helpful staff with limited English.
Couldn't fault this hotel.

We absolutely loved staying at this traditional Japanese Manor House. The architecture and rustic ambience were incredibly original. The owner was friendly and hospitable, ensuring our comfort throughout our stay. The meals, made with fresh organic ingredients, were excellent. We especially enjoyed the homemade pickles and side dishes.
Absolutely nothing.

the hot bath water was perfect for relaxation. the family-style dinner was tasty and included some unique dishes such as horse sashimi. the breakfast was delicious as well. the emergency first aid box was helpful in a time of need.
The staff did not seem to have the time to provide assistance and the pricing was a bit overpriced.

Spent Xmas vacations in an old samurai house in the countryside. Loved the rustic ambience and the hospitality of the family, owned ryokan. Private bath available upon demand. Meals were very satisfying, using farm, to, table ingredients; they even make their own wine. Location is perfect for outdoor activities and day trips to scenic spots. the family cat is a delight.
Some facilities need improvement. the hot spring is not traditional enough for onsen.
